Happy All Hallows Eve!
Reader,
I hope this Halloween finds you with a sense of both peace and expectation.
Halloween is another one of those holidays which, like Christmas, has been distorted from its original purpose and intent.
While some find the observance of Halloween controversial for Christians, the holiday has its roots in Catholic liturgy with the celebration of the lives of all saints on November 1st, which is known as “All Saints Day.” The observance of Halloween, or “All Hallows Eve,” began with the vigil for “All Saints Day.”
I came across an excellent article on Catholic.com regarding the history of Halloween and its traditions, including trick-or-treating, “Is Halloween Demonic? The Truth About All Hallows’ Eve”

Remembering the Saints
I have been thinking a lot about those who have come before, both those who “finished the race” well (2 Timothy 4:7), as well as those who got off course. The past year has impressed upon me just how many, many people have had an impact and influence on my faith.
I recently published The Facade Discussion Guide based on the science fiction novel by Michael Heiser. Heiser was instrumental in how I research and read the Bible. My former Bible study teacher, David Bower, also had a powerful influence on my life, shaping how I read the Bible and write. As I was compiling my resource guide to his articles on the End Times, it struck me how similar the style of our writing was. Both of these men changed my relationship with God in changing my understanding of Scripture.
Heiser passed on in 2023, and it is for all those fellow sojourners in faith that we remember on All Saints Day.
As we approach this time of observance, who are those that you hold in memory that have impacted and shaped you?

Continuing this theme, my November 1st livestream will be on “Saints & Sinners” and what it means to walk the life of faith in this broken and corrupt world.
The livestream will be at 5 pm EST / 4 pm CST / 2 pm PST on Saturday, November 1st. I hope you can join me.
Blessings,
