Light in the Darkness: Hanukkah, Hope & Tomorrow's Livestream
Published 12 days ago • 1 min read
Happy Hannukah!
Reader,
We're in the midst of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, which began on the evening of December 14th and continues through December 22nd.
Hanukkah commemorates the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem—when a small amount of consecrated oil, enough for only one day, miraculously burned for eight days. It's a celebration of light persisting against impossible odds, of faith when resources seem insufficient, and of God's provision in the darkest moments.
For those of us who follow Christ, Hanukkah carries even deeper significance. It foreshadows the coming of Jesus—the Light of the World—who would walk through that very Temple during this festival (John 10:22-23). The miracle of light that wouldn't go out points forward to the Light that darkness cannot overcome (John 1:5). What sustained the Temple for eight days was a preview of the One who would sustain His people forever.
Light exposes what darkness tries to hide.
Which brings me to tomorrow's livestream (Wednesday, December 18th). I'll be discussing entrenched corruption—specifically, what happens when institutions meant to protect us instead shield those who harm us. I'll be documenting the ongoing attacks I've faced from federal contractors while authorities do nothing, and why fighting corruption alone is like being trapped in quicksand while the rescue team watches.
This isn't the content I'd prefer to focus on—my heart is in the work at RaisedToWalk.org—but right now, shining light on institutional darkness is necessary. Just as the Maccabees had to cleanse the Temple before the light could burn properly, sometimes we must confront corruption before we can move forward in our true calling.

The livestream will be at 5:30 pm EST / 4:30 pm CST / 2:30 pm PST on Thursday, December 18th. I hope you can join me.
If you've ever reported wrongdoing only to watch authorities protect the perpetrators, this conversation is for you. And if you can share the stream, you become part of the external pressure that entrenched corruption needs in order to break.
The oil that burned for eight days when it should have lasted one—that's the hope I'm holding onto. Light persists. Truth persists. And the One who is the Light of the World walks with us through it all.
Blessings during this season of light,
Blessings,
